On Page Hill, Badgers, Bourton and Linden Village the old drive is only half the story: the base under it is usually tired too. Both come out, a new porous base goes down over 200mm to 250mm of compacted stone, and only then is the resin trowelled on by hand.

Lace Hill's short block drives from the 2010s can be swapped for resin if you want one smooth finish from the pavement to the door. If extra space is all you need, extending the block is usually cheaper, and Terry says so.

If you live in the conservation area in the centre, or on one of the streets the council has consulted on adding to it, Terry checks the colour with you first.

Usually no planning is needed when resin is laid on a new permeable base or drains to your own garden. On an existing solid base draining to the road, over 5 square metres can need permission. Terry checks this on the visit.

Buckingham is about 30 minutes' drive from central Milton Keynes, so Terry books the visit on a day he is out that way, and on the estates the van and skip sit on the drive.

Close to Market Hill, the older town houses on West Street and Castle Street have little room at the front; where there is a small space, resin in a warm colour sits quietly against the old brick.
